Marc Beauty GlowStick Review

Saturday, June 25, 2016

Sometimes we come across a product so good, get a chance to play with something so amazing, we just have to share it with the world. Recently I got a voxbox from influenster and was faced with one such time.

Now for about a year now I have been a member of Influenster. If you dont know what Infulenster is its a site that connects companies looking to get their products out there with people who like to share what they love on their social media. If you want to check out more about it you can find them here. They can select you for a variety of different campaigns and my most recent one was a Marc Jacobs Voxbox for their new cream highlighter. I was excited for the prespect to try something so expensive for free because im very careful when splurging on such luxury items. I have an eyeshadow palette from Marc Beauty as well as a lipstick and eyeliner so I do know how good some of their products are. Still loving my The Starlet palette didnt prepare me for this highlighter.

The Marc Jacobs Beauty Glow Stick Glistening Illuminator is in a word epic! The versatility for multiple skintones cant be understated. In some lighting it looks silver and in some gold. And on both pink and golden undertones it makes you gleam (I tried it on my daughter who has very pink undertones unlike myself with my olive complexion.) And the lasting power, both under setting powder and on top of a full face of makeup, it was one of the last things to break down before bed that night. It both didnt disrupt my fully set face and had zero problem showing through when it was a layer down on my face. Maybe epic isnt enough to cover this.

Do you see that gleam in the video above? You can rock this like half alien queen, mermaid goddess, unicorn incarnate bad ass! Its really epic. Now I know this has one hell of a price-tag $42 is ALOT for one product. But if your totally ok spending that or looking for a really well worth it splurge item? This is really worth the consideration. You can use it right to face and body from the stick, applied with brush, beauty blender or finger and each and every time its looks so good. Really this highlight is a miracle in a tube.

Now it does make me think of the Makeup Revolution strobe creams, and if anyone would like to see a comparison of the two and how they match up drop me a request below and I will certainly match them up to see if we have a more affordable dupe on our hands!

My Current Favorite Palette {Makeup Revolution}

Monday, October 12, 2015

Many might not know I have had a long and sometimes abusive relationship with eye shadow. I had a stage in high school where I wasn't sure why red and pinker shadows didn't work on me... I was just a couple of years before the vampire craze when looking sick would have been totally in. Its been a struggle for me to find this happy place between shadows that look good on my complexion and those that flatter my very dark brown eyes. But ive been working on it and in Those struggles I have found some amazing shadows, this palette is one of my favorites.

Now this beauty is from Makeup Revolution, a new very affordable and high quality brand in the UK. It was gifted to me by my lovely friend Eleanor and I knew instantly id love it. It has shadows in the pink family, it reminded me of the Naked 3. But they were warmer and shimmery and everything the shadows I used in high school were't. Makeup Revolution is a very affordable brand and this sites constantly had offers and sales. I have an ever growing collection between international orders (Which they do with amazing shipping) and gifts. And now they are selling some of their original products here in the states at Ulta!

Now this palette break down into 12 shimmery satin shades and 6 mattes. Thats 18 for a price tag of about $15 here in the states. That is amazing bang for your buck and they are so worth it. True some of the lighter mattes look chalky on me but I feel like thats more to do with my complexion then the shadow and they might work better on someone with fairer skin. Still the whole right hand side of the palette I am obsessed with. Especially the shade in the very top right corner. (Excuse my not knowing the names, they were on a sheet that came inside the palette and has since gone AWOL) With this palette I can final achieve that pinky smokey eye I tried and failed at SO hard when I was 16.

But the Palette is also versatile. I smoke out almost every eye look I do, I cant help myself im a dramatic child of the 80's. But you can do a very toned down everyday look with this, as well as split the different and get something colorful but not super intense. If your building up your own personal makeup stash I think this palette is worth a look at. Its so unique for the drug store, I have nothing like it from elf or NYX. Just all in one complimentary palette for you how can it get better?

If anyone would like a Makeup Revolution swatch fest let me know I have soooo many goodies to share with you all. Also a holiday look with this beauty might be in the foreseeable future! Hope everyone is having an awesome day!

Makeup Geek Palette Review! Makeup Revolution

Wednesday, October 15, 2014

Hey there Turtle doves! I hope everyone is having an awesome week, I know my own is looking up and i wish all my lovelies the same. Part of my lovely week was an order from Makeup Revolution that i thought would be in a week later in coming if not more. Shipping across the Atlantic can be a time consuming thing so that it got here in under two weeks was so so exciting to me! Now I have a load of goodies that im going to want to review for you, some in little groups and others all on their own. And the one thing I have been coveting since i saw Miss Budget Beauty do five looks in five days with it, is the Makeup Geek Palette. So that will be the thing we talk about first.

Ok, first, the packaging! Now sadly in my horrible photo taking I couldnt manage to catch the holographic cover. But if you shift the palette the word Geek goes from black to blue and it is so adorable. My daughter was fascinated with it the entire time i was doing my makeup this morning. The case is a hard plastic with a secure clasp, and it all feels very firm, safe, with a large mirror perfect for doing your makeup (Its what I used today.) The packaging gets an A+ from this girl.

Next I want to talk about the color selection that this palette has to offer. With a mixture of matte and shimmer shades and neutrals to jewel tones you really can accomplish so many looks with this. The colors are laid out with an almost rainbow feel, and the color groupings if you go row by row in the palette can help those newer with makeup pick looks. You of course can dip from any pot you would like but having complimentary colors together is a helpful addition. Also, you get a grand total of 36 colors. Only about 6 are without total shimmer BUT if you are a lover of shimmer like myself this isnt a problem.

Now i know what you are all wanting to know... how are the shadows themselves. And in a word? Amazing! Yes, the more matte a shade is the harder it is for blending, and they can have a smidge of fall out as with any shadow. But they are by no means impossible to work with. And on the skin? Like butter. They are soft and almost creamy and for powder shadows that is saying something. They are soft so when blending you have to be careful not to blend to much and lose some of your color power. But if your not extra heavy with the blending brush then you are golden.

Now these are a couple of random swatches. I dont really have the arm space for 36 swatches but I think from these you can see that the pigmentation and color pay off is amazing. This is with no primer, straight finger to arm swipe. And speaking from someone who has been wearing the shadows all day, again with no extra primer, they have such a staying power. And the cost for all of this beautiful? £7.99 or $13.17 is what i paid after the exchange rate. So uber affordable to boot. You can pick up the palette HERE!

What do you lovelies think of this palette? Something you might want to pick up for yourself? Any other goodies from Makeup Revolution you would recommend? Feel free to leave any and all suggestions below!

UK Wish List!

Thursday, September 25, 2014

Hey there turtle doves! So as pretty much everyone who knows me knows, im going to let you in on a little secret. I am completely obsessed with the UK and Ireland. Like i fully believe i was from one or both places at some point in a previous life. There is something about England, Scotland Wales and Ireland that just gets me. Maybe the accents that change every twenty miles or so (And how jealous i am of each and every one as we Americans got jipped on the accents) or the amazing landscapes, or the centuries of history in one place. But obsessed about covers it.

Now since i am completely obsessed i know alot of what gets released in the UK beauty wise... and so very much of it i want its not even funny, haha. But here is a list of a few of the things i am seriously lusting after that are really hard to get in the U.S.
