Hey there Turtle doves! I hope everyone is having an awesome week, I know my own is looking up and i wish all my lovelies the same. Part of my lovely week was an order from Makeup Revolution that i thought would be in a week later in coming if not more. Shipping across the Atlantic can be a time consuming thing so that it got here in under two weeks was so so exciting to me! Now I have a load of goodies that im going to want to review for you, some in little groups and others all on their own. And the one thing I have been coveting since i saw Miss Budget Beauty do five looks in five days with it, is the Makeup Geek Palette. So that will be the thing we talk about first.
Ok, first, the packaging! Now sadly in my horrible photo taking I couldnt manage to catch the holographic cover. But if you shift the palette the word Geek goes from black to blue and it is so adorable. My daughter was fascinated with it the entire time i was doing my makeup this morning. The case is a hard plastic with a secure clasp, and it all feels very firm, safe, with a large mirror perfect for doing your makeup (Its what I used today.) The packaging gets an A+ from this girl.
Next I want to talk about the color selection that this palette has to offer. With a mixture of matte and shimmer shades and neutrals to jewel tones you really can accomplish so many looks with this. The colors are laid out with an almost rainbow feel, and the color groupings if you go row by row in the palette can help those newer with makeup pick looks. You of course can dip from any pot you would like but having complimentary colors together is a helpful addition. Also, you get a grand total of 36 colors. Only about 6 are without total shimmer BUT if you are a lover of shimmer like myself this isnt a problem.
Now i know what you are all wanting to know... how are the shadows themselves. And in a word? Amazing! Yes, the more matte a shade is the harder it is for blending, and they can have a smidge of fall out as with any shadow. But they are by no means impossible to work with. And on the skin? Like butter. They are soft and almost creamy and for powder shadows that is saying something. They are soft so when blending you have to be careful not to blend to much and lose some of your color power. But if your not extra heavy with the blending brush then you are golden.
Now these are a couple of random swatches. I dont really have the arm space for 36 swatches but I think from these you can see that the pigmentation and color pay off is amazing. This is with no primer, straight finger to arm swipe. And speaking from someone who has been wearing the shadows all day, again with no extra primer, they have such a staying power. And the cost for all of this beautiful? £7.99 or $13.17 is what i paid after the exchange rate. So uber affordable to boot. You can pick up the palette HERE!
What do you lovelies think of this palette? Something you might want to pick up for yourself? Any other goodies from Makeup Revolution you would recommend? Feel free to leave any and all suggestions below!
