Marc Beauty GlowStick Review

Saturday, June 25, 2016

Sometimes we come across a product so good, get a chance to play with something so amazing, we just have to share it with the world. Recently I got a voxbox from influenster and was faced with one such time.

Now for about a year now I have been a member of Influenster. If you dont know what Infulenster is its a site that connects companies looking to get their products out there with people who like to share what they love on their social media. If you want to check out more about it you can find them here. They can select you for a variety of different campaigns and my most recent one was a Marc Jacobs Voxbox for their new cream highlighter. I was excited for the prespect to try something so expensive for free because im very careful when splurging on such luxury items. I have an eyeshadow palette from Marc Beauty as well as a lipstick and eyeliner so I do know how good some of their products are. Still loving my The Starlet palette didnt prepare me for this highlighter.

The Marc Jacobs Beauty Glow Stick Glistening Illuminator is in a word epic! The versatility for multiple skintones cant be understated. In some lighting it looks silver and in some gold. And on both pink and golden undertones it makes you gleam (I tried it on my daughter who has very pink undertones unlike myself with my olive complexion.) And the lasting power, both under setting powder and on top of a full face of makeup, it was one of the last things to break down before bed that night. It both didnt disrupt my fully set face and had zero problem showing through when it was a layer down on my face. Maybe epic isnt enough to cover this.

Do you see that gleam in the video above? You can rock this like half alien queen, mermaid goddess, unicorn incarnate bad ass! Its really epic. Now I know this has one hell of a price-tag $42 is ALOT for one product. But if your totally ok spending that or looking for a really well worth it splurge item? This is really worth the consideration. You can use it right to face and body from the stick, applied with brush, beauty blender or finger and each and every time its looks so good. Really this highlight is a miracle in a tube.

Now it does make me think of the Makeup Revolution strobe creams, and if anyone would like to see a comparison of the two and how they match up drop me a request below and I will certainly match them up to see if we have a more affordable dupe on our hands!

Ofra Liquid Lipstick in Miami Fever

Sunday, December 20, 2015

Ofra is a brand that I have slowly come to love. I was exposed to them in subscription boxes and have really liked trying out things I wouldnt usually have picked as first products form a line to try out. But from highlighters and powders I can confidently say I like the brand Ofra. That for me is not only important but it inspired me to make a purchase that I might have hesitated at before.

You see I love the youtuber KathleenLights and her colourpop colabs I have jumped on in the past. With her liquid lipstick with Ofra it was pricier and a color that with my yellow undertones I couldn't be sure would look nice on me. But knowing the product would be quality weather it flattered or not I bit the bullet and made an order.

Im so so glad I did. Now while this color might not be for everyone I have seen women and men with varying skin tones rock this color to perfection. And even if the color isnt for you this brand of liquid lipstick just might be.

Color- Now this is a strange color it reminds me of those Spanish roof tiles, and I kind of love it. Now packed on to much it looks straight up orange on me and I cant wear it. But done with a light hand it a beautiful wash of color that is so gorgeous and very flattering on me. I know it might not work on everyone but it is such an original color and its Limited Edition so if you have had your eye on it id snap it up now.

Formula- Ofra is now my go to for liquid lipsticks, hands down. Im so excited to find a brand I like this much. As someone with dry skin I also can have dry lips and most liquid lipsticks dry down so matte its uncomfortable for me to wear. These start off as moussy and light and the way they dry doesn't settle into every fine line I have. I have an order in on about 5 more of these liquid lipstics including KathleenLights second Ofra colab!

All in all this lipstick is a favorite of mine this year and I hope the ones on the way are just as amazing as this one is. What are some of your guys favorite Liquid lipsticks? Leave any suggestions down below!

My Current Favorite Palette {Makeup Revolution}

Monday, October 12, 2015

Many might not know I have had a long and sometimes abusive relationship with eye shadow. I had a stage in high school where I wasn't sure why red and pinker shadows didn't work on me... I was just a couple of years before the vampire craze when looking sick would have been totally in. Its been a struggle for me to find this happy place between shadows that look good on my complexion and those that flatter my very dark brown eyes. But ive been working on it and in Those struggles I have found some amazing shadows, this palette is one of my favorites.

Now this beauty is from Makeup Revolution, a new very affordable and high quality brand in the UK. It was gifted to me by my lovely friend Eleanor and I knew instantly id love it. It has shadows in the pink family, it reminded me of the Naked 3. But they were warmer and shimmery and everything the shadows I used in high school were't. Makeup Revolution is a very affordable brand and this sites constantly had offers and sales. I have an ever growing collection between international orders (Which they do with amazing shipping) and gifts. And now they are selling some of their original products here in the states at Ulta!

Now this palette break down into 12 shimmery satin shades and 6 mattes. Thats 18 for a price tag of about $15 here in the states. That is amazing bang for your buck and they are so worth it. True some of the lighter mattes look chalky on me but I feel like thats more to do with my complexion then the shadow and they might work better on someone with fairer skin. Still the whole right hand side of the palette I am obsessed with. Especially the shade in the very top right corner. (Excuse my not knowing the names, they were on a sheet that came inside the palette and has since gone AWOL) With this palette I can final achieve that pinky smokey eye I tried and failed at SO hard when I was 16.

But the Palette is also versatile. I smoke out almost every eye look I do, I cant help myself im a dramatic child of the 80's. But you can do a very toned down everyday look with this, as well as split the different and get something colorful but not super intense. If your building up your own personal makeup stash I think this palette is worth a look at. Its so unique for the drug store, I have nothing like it from elf or NYX. Just all in one complimentary palette for you how can it get better?

If anyone would like a Makeup Revolution swatch fest let me know I have soooo many goodies to share with you all. Also a holiday look with this beauty might be in the foreseeable future! Hope everyone is having an awesome day!

September BoxyCharm!

Wednesday, September 30, 2015

If there is one subscription box that never ever lets me down, its BoxyCharm. The Value of the products is always so far above the cost of the box and they always mix it up, sometimes its makeup heavy, sometimes there's a lot of skincare. They are so good for including things for your hair and nails and not all boxes and bags that come monthly are good about that kind of thing. So let me show you all the super exciting things I got this month from the lovelies at BoxyCharm.

SCRATCH Nail Wraps- These were oddly one of the things I was soooo excited about. I love nail wraps. They keep alot of work out of doing my nails because im sloppy and really messy when I paint my nails. So these being so beautiful and LE were just so welcome. I cant wait to try them out. And taking a look at their site if I get on well with them I will be getting more designs. Retails:$12

Tarte Skinny SmolderEYES Liner- I LOVE tarte, just as a brand I get why they can run a pretty penny. The quality is never at fault with Tarte. And I love that this as a brown liner. True usually im game to get another black, I use black liner more then anything else, that smokey middle eastern look fits my face so well. But this brown is golden, and sparkly but not with chunks of glitter. Its just so beautiful! Retails:$19

Vasanti Professional Foundation Brush- This Brush is so so soft! I just had to get that out of the way. Now I dont usually use this kind of brush for foundation but I saw a suggestion online to try this style brush for your concealer... and I need to try it because I feel like the application would be amazing. Retail:$32

Chella Eyebrow Defining Gel- I will admit I am a brow gel novice. When it comes to me and my brows I prefer a powder or a gel that is in a tub, something more like my dip brow. BUT I am excited to try this because I can have unruly hairs and I rarely have full face makeup days. So on no makeup days this could be a life saver. Retail:$18

Previse Skincare Hydramilk Hydrating Lotion- Now this was something I was soooooo excited to get. Im a dry girl as anyone who has been around here for a while would know. And something about the name Hydramilk makes me think of this Egyptian queen taking a milk bath and its lavish and its decadent and I love it. It could be a total gimmick, but im totally into trying it out and see if it really works. Retail:$48

BONUS ITEM- A travel/sample size of Kardashian Beauty Black Seed Dry Oil. I havent tried any of the hair products from Kardashian beauty and an oil in sample size can still give you so many uses. So I am very very excited to try this oil!

This box cost me $21 and the total price of the products inside was an astounding $129! So so so worth the cost of your box. And every month BoxyCharm delivers with this amazing quality! If you can only afford one subscription this really needs to be the one you choose because its so far beyond worth the money and you get to try so many amazing high end products. If anyone would like a more indepth review of anything mentioned above drop me a comment letting me know. And to check out more about this amazing box check out BoxyCharm.

Septembers Ipsy Glam Bag!

Thursday, September 24, 2015

Another beauty subscription? Why yes, because I have many and I love them all. I feel like maybe in time I can stop with them, I have a ton of makeup, skincare and hair care but im always trying to find something better. Its like pursuit of the American Dream but instead of trying to become filthy rich I want to find the perfect cream for my curls. But I digress, this is about sharing all the amazing things I got in this months Ipsy bag!

The Products-

Liptini Special Edition Lipstick in Scarlet Cocktail- Now this one I was so so excited about and it is even better then I expected it to be! Its not only so creamy and has that vanilla MAC smell but its such a good color! The staying power is really really good for such a creamy lipstick and with a liner I got hours out of it. Its moisturizing and such an easy application though since it has such a rounded edge id suggest those with smaller lips might prefer using a lip brush with this instead of going right form the tube. It was much easier to cleanly apply to my larger bottom lip them my lightly smaller upper lip. But by no means a deal breaker, this lipstick is amazing and will be one of my fall staples.

NYX Cosmetics ipsy Eye Shadow Trio- Now I love simple eyeshadow palettes. Small enough to keep in my bag, great color pay off and affordable? Sign me up! So when I saw this exclusive NYX shadow set was on its way to me I was so so excited. NYX shadows are always so pigmented, easy to work with and really affordable. So while this one cant be found in stores they have so many great little sets and loose shadows that are worth having a look at.

Eau Thermale Avène Soothing Moisture Mask- Now this is one I havent tried yet. The properties on it sound amazing "This rich, creamy, non-setting skincare mask provides intensive soothing care to dehydrated and over-stressed skin." Im all about that life. But considering this is such a tiny trial size (.16fl oz) and I have SUCH dry skin I dont want to waste it on a normal try on. Its being saved to try on a pamper night which should be super fun.

Bayberry Naturals Rosehip & Hibiscus Moisturizer- This smells like nothing which was so disappointing! I was expecting this amazing tropical kind of floral and it has no scent. Bummer for me but for anyone who loves a naked scent so it doesn't clash with your other products then this is right up your ally. But scent aside does this work? Yes it feels so good on the skin makes you feel soft and supple and settles into the skin nicely, no greasy feeling that makes it uncomfortable to touch things after the fact.

Formula X Nail Color in Ignite- The excitment was real when I saw this was in my glam bag! I love formula X and while its not the most expensive polish in the world its not the cheapest either. Also its from Sephora so if you are like me and without a local store its online orders or nothing. So I only have a couple of this line but they are all so amazing. Worth the price tag I assure you. And this color is not only perfect for fall but goes with the lipstick we got as well! Talk about lucky, I am one of those weirdos that love to match my nails to some aspect of my makeup, usually my lips.

Not only was all of this amazing to get but in one of the cutest glam bags that we have ever got! Seriously its in the top five and feels super sturdy. Over all this was an amazing glam bag and I cant wait to see what we get next month! If you dont yet get ipsy and want to check it out you can find more information on this epic service HERE. And if you are a suspcriber already let me know what goodies you got different from mine, and how your liking anything you got in this months bag.

Hair Care Wish List! Inspired by Elsa Pataky

Thursday, September 17, 2015

Its no secret to everyone that knows me that just about ever celebrity I see I have an immediate love for if I like some body of work they have done. For actors that list is vast but i don't skimp on loving the women who influence Hollywood and style either. Im all about the love. But one of the ladies I love the most is Elsa Pataky, the Spanish beauty who has been in countless movies, in Spanish and English, married Thor (yes she gets to go home to Chris Hemsworth people) and has three of the cutest kids ive ever seen. Shes an advocate for womans rights, ocean conservation and being a healthy all around good person. If you can have role models in your late twenties she is mine without question.

Now Elsa (I keep having to stop myself from calling her Queen Elsa... understand my love for her) has a blog over on Glamour Spain and I follow it religiously. I do not speak anything close to good Spanish and can read even less then that. And since shes from Spain the Spanish I learned from a family hailing from the Caribbean isn't as proper. Still I use google translate when I need and guesstimate the rest. Its nice, the little snippets of her life she shares and better when she talks about beauty and health and just lifestyle things. She had one such post last week about caring for your hair, and now I have an entire wishlist of things I'm working on getting for my own hair care needs.

Elsa being this famed actress has some expensive tastes on some thing and some cheaper tricks that I now want to try. Once such budget tricks I already have ordered and cant wait to try. But these are the others that will take more time to get, either from a high price tag or seriously needing to find a European Vendor that ships to the US.

Now this GHD straightener is one of those high ticket items. They run alot but after checking for youtube videos to see it in action on coarse hair I'm sold. Right now I use a Chi and its good, it knocks out my kink and leaves my usually frizzy hair very soft and straight. The problem is it takes multiple passes to do so and the more time heating the hair the more damage you do to it. So I'm anxious for this one which I've seen so far work miracles.

According to Elsa this leave in condition she discovered while in Spain leaves hair feeling soft and smelling amazing. As Elsa and her family are known for days out and lots of swimming in the ocean her word here is gold. I live near the ocean and even our air is salty, it corrodes paint jobs on cars and can make your hair and skin extra dry. So im really excited for this. INTERCOSMO ILMAGNIFICO is from Italy and so I need to get it through ebay but I will get my hands on it.

"I love ORIBE Because of Their quality products and Because They leave your hair smelling great, Especially the conditioner." Elsa Pataky. As someone with very curly fine hair im always in need for a good conditioner and this one has some pretty good reviews. For me a cheaper shampoo is fine but having a solid conditioner is key so I can justify the higher price tag.

I know my love for this womans opinion comes with a high price tag. But skin like hair is important and there might just be a skincare wishlist coming very soon. But really even with a bare face and wet hair she is stunning and doing something right.

So those will hopefully someday soon be the new regiment to making my hair silky soft and smooth! Anything else I need to add to the wishlist for perfect hair? What are some celebrities that inspire your beauty regiments?

September Halal Beauty Box!

Monday, September 14, 2015

I love a good beauty box. Ive gotten Glossy Box, Boxy Charm, Birchbox and Ipsy. So when I got a follow on Twitter from Halal Beauty box with the offer of your first box free with signing onto their first months box I looked more into them. And I was so eager to check this company out! So today i'm going to tell you about the company and show you what goodies I got in this months box!

Now if you are like me, Halal was not a term id used in everyday conversation but with some google and a glance around their site I came across a post that explained it all.

In Islam, "Halal" means acceptable, permissible, and good. Halal is to Islam as Kosher is to Judaism. Most people know about Kosher Beef or Halal Chicken, but those same people aren't aware of the fact that the vast majority of cosmetics are not Halal (or Kosher). Many products feature pork fat, gelatin, tallow and other animal byproducts. The one thing that sets us apart from any other major beauty company or subscription box is our brand standards. We only feature and stock Halal beauty products. This means...
1. Our products have no animal ingredients or byproducts.
2. Our products are cruelty-free.
3. Our products do not contain alcohol.
4. Our products are ethically sourced.

So not only is this box a sound investment if you are a beauty lover who is religious but anyone who is vegetarian or vegan would really benefit from products like these. I am none of the above but knowing how natural and in some cases organic the beauty products are really intrigues me.

Now can I gush about how amazing a box they curated? Everything arrived in this little black box which made me think of this beauty box being like a little black dress, perfect. It had alot of those little white wormie papers which in my haste to get to my goodies ended up in the trash before I could take proper pictures.

The Products-
Wabi-Sabi Botanicals Clay Mask- The only thing in the box I havent tried yet so I don't have first impression of. But the concept of this is amazing. With a mask thats already moist it has the potential to dry out in a couple months. This has a self life of a year, you simply add water to make the paste in your desired consistency per use. How amazing is that? Im really really excited about using this, I love giving myself at home facials. And this runs for $24.00, almost the entire cost of the box itself.
Lippie Girl Vegocentric Organic Vegan Lipsticks- Now im unsure but assuming that these came in different shades, mine was in Ski-Bunny. In a word this lipstick is amazing. It had cooked in our northern heat here but i fixed the lipstick in the tube and it still went on smoothly. It is a nice color, a little light but since its a more pink nude I warmed it up with the liner from this box and it looked so good on the lips. If you are darker then my medium light complexion I think my shade would come off kind of concealer lip on you. So id use it as a mid lip brighter. Make your lips look fuller by using the in the center, gives that pout effect. This retails for $23.00
Lippie Girl Extra Virgin Lip Gloss- This is the perfect old school simple clear gloss. It smells like lemons tinged with coconut and it feels so super smooth and glossy without being super greasy or worse extra sticky. And because its yellow and has zero color payoff on the lips its perfect to top any matte lip you want to shine up without altering your lipstick shade underneath. Alone or over something else I think this one is going to become a purse staple. This retails for $15.00
FX Cosmetics UK Lip Pencil - My shade in this was Mauve, again im not sure if everyone got the same one. BUT IT IS PERFECT! Im in love and this is my new favorite lip liner. It warmed up my lipstick so much and gave me this ombre effect on my lips. But alone I could line my whole mouth with this, top it with the clear gloss and have the most pouty 90's lips around. Its AMAZING! My favorite thing in this months box. This retails for $11.50
FX Cosmetics UK Duo Pencil Eyeliner- My liner came in Aqua/Blue and can i say how soft and buttery they are??? Like seriously like butter gliding over the skin. They dont pull or tug on application and I had to rub a bit harder to clean it off on the first try. Its promising and I cant wait to do mermaid eyes with this pencil! And finally this retails for $11.50

The total retail value for my box comes to $85! And that cost of a monthly subscription is only $27.95 in the US! Can you tell i'm excited? I know its not the cheapest box around, but its really worth having a look at. And if its something that religiously or culturally is significant, or morally your an all vegan type this is the box for you! You can find out more about them here.

I cant wait to see what this company comes with next month, it a subscription I think is so worth the money. Is anyone else going to check out this brand? In the market for the new it beauty box?

Laura Mercier Almond Coconut Honey Bath Review

Sunday, September 13, 2015

We all have certain products that we use when we are feeling special. It could be a fancy dinner and you break out your special perfume, or a bag you only use for a black tie event. I have a couple such products, a Marc Jacobs eyeshadow palette that I use for nights out, a NARS lipstick that has the same special place. But theres one thing I have and only use when I'm feeling extra fancy. The Laura Mercier Almond Coconut Honey Bath gets broken out when I have had a very bad day and need to seriously relax.

Now this product runs about $45 so its a serious splurge for a bubble bath. Before I dished out the money I read around, blog reviews and youtube posts. I believe the first time I saw this it was on Zoellas youtube channel, possibly in a monthly favorites? I could be wrong about that as it was a long time ago. But eventually I thought it might be worth a try. Nothing you use for everyday, at that price point you'd have to have a serious bank account to afford nightly baths with this kind of bubble bath.

I tried it for the first time (after a good couple months of refusing to touch it because it cost so much and was so pretty I didn't want to ruing it) and I was a little underwhelmed. Let me explain. As a bath milk, a soak where you leave the water feeling soft and supple and smelling amazing its really nice. It didnt change my life of my skin which naturally is very very dry but nice all the same. But its not a bubble bath as some like to claim. It does foam, and give you some bubbles but the amount you would need to use to make a bath full of bubbles would be entirely to much, especially at how much it would run you per oz.

The scent does linger and its clean yet sweet and so so nice. You leave the water feeling soft and well I felt a little fancy. I got into bed after the bath and the scent was very calming, I slept hard and I think the way I fell asleep so soundly and so quickly was because of that. So is it worth the hype? I cant say that. It didnt change the way I bathe, or how I care for my skin. I cant say you need this at $45.... BUT, if you want a treat, something nice for special times and you can take the hit to your wallet it is totally worth the try. Its really nice if you take it as just a nice bath soak instead of a bubble bath.

Have any of you tried this? Have any tricks to get the bubbles a bit more bubbly? Leave any suggestions for me and each other down below!

Colourpop Haul!

Saturday, September 12, 2015

HAUL TIME! No but the best kind of haul ever.... COLOURPOP! For those of you who haven't heard of this baby brand they are a super drugstore priced makeup line with the BEST quality around. They just celebrated their first birthday and since day one have had amazing products. Ive been using them since just about the beginning and they just keep getting better! I'm planning a full swatch fest and review of all of my Colourpop collection but that's for later days. Now to see the goodies I got!

Now for an Overview of what everything is. I got 2 shadows, 2 lippie stix, 2 lippie pencils and 2 of their new liquid lipsticks. They have blushes, bronzers and highlights on the site as well but in this order I didn't nab any of those. Also there was more to this order but it was presents for a swap i'm doing with a friend so those have to be secret! Everything I purchased retails for $5 except the liquid lipsticks which go for $6.

The Haul-
Eyeshadow In Sequin
Eyeshadow In Envy
Ultra Matte Liquid Lipstick In Bumble
Ultra Matte Liquid Lipstick In Clueless
Lippie Pencil In Poison
Lippie Stix In Poison
Lippie Pencil In Grunge
Lippie Stix In Grunge

Now I have used in the past the pencils, lipsticks and shadows. The only thing I haven't tried yet from this brand is actually the liquid lipsticks. But knowing Colourpop I think they will be epic, though I will keep you posted. Their price point is just so amazing, even if you only wanted to try one thing from every section, its so worth the price. Do bear in mind their cheek products run about $8 but they are significantly bigger then the shadows and soooo nice. I really cant say one bad thing about this brand. To be totally candid I already have more things in my cart. The lippie pencils and stix are both from their 90's collection, and they had a shadow in that collection I wanted so badly. Unfortunatly it is sold out. But when its back in stock Stereo is so worth a gander, its so beautiful in swatches on the site.

Have you guys given into the Colourpop craze yet? Any colors I absolutely need in my life? Leave recommendations for me and each other down below!

The Force Awakens.... With Makeup? CoverGirl x Star Wars Collection!

Wednesday, September 9, 2015

There is one thing every nerd girl loves. And thats the mixture of two of her obsessions. So for every girl who loves to cosplay, has decided they were born in the wrong universe far far away, or simply like me thought they should be the one to marry Han Solo, do I have some exciting news for you?! CoverGirl is working with Star Wars to drop a new cosmetics line, in just a couple weeks and just in time for everyone to get glammed up to head out to see The Force Awakens this December!

I know, exciting right? The line, which in part is available for preorder now on the Covergirl website will be up for sale everywhere later this month. It will feature six polishes, 6 lipsticks in corresponding colors and 10 mascaras. The nail polishes are all named something catchy and fitting for the universe like Speed of Light and Nuclear. The lipsticks less exciting in name with just the color name to go by BUT having this amazing metallic element to each shade. Both reminiscent of the 90's and totally futuristic all at once. (Or if you're like me that made you think of the 5th Element... hello nostalgia!)

The mascaras are technically only two formulas, their super sizer mascara in regular or waterproof. But they will come with an assortment of catch phrases from the franchise like, “Luminous beings are we.” or “Immune to the light.” Each the dark and the light side of the force get five quotes so simply from a collecting standpoint epic!

While the exact date they will be available in all stores still hasn't dropped I would keep my eye out for these because other limited edition collections like this have been hard to find, im talking to you Hunger Games. For anyone looking for more information you check out these links...

STAR WARS LIMITED EDITION OUTLAST NAIL POLISH
STAR WARS LIMITED EDITION COLORLICIOUS LIPSTICK
STAR WARS LIMITED EDITION SUPER SIZER DARK SIDE MASCARA
STAR WARS LIMITED EDITION SUPER SIZER WATERPROOF LIGHT SIDE MASCARA

Is anyone else hella excited?

Baby Drugstore.com Haul!

Monday, September 7, 2015

So for the last couple weeks I have been in shopping mode, as I usually am. But when it came to beauty shopping it hasn't been for myself. I've been shipping for a friend of mine. An Irish beauty who I've so far sent one package of american goodies to, and shes done the same for me. So while its been hard not buying loads of pretty new makeup for myself I do know in the end I get a present from El, and that will more then make up for my good behavior. However after roughly two months of buying no more then lip balm, I did sneak a few bits into a gift order from Drugstore.com for myself. The total was around $15 bucks and i'm sooo in love with what i got.

{All products will be linked if you want to check anything out}

The Products-
Rimmel 60 Seconds Nail, Piccasilly Line
Soap & Glory Sexy Mother Pucker Gloss Crayon, Vanilla, Nudist
Wet n Wild Fergie Creme Lipstick, Bebot Love
Wet n Wild Shimmer Palette, Hollywood Boulevard

Now I've been able to play with 3 of the 4 pieces and i'm soooo in love! Me and my daughter have a Piccasilly Line Pedi and in the last couple days I have worn both lip colors to death! Im thinking both deserve their own posts but I need to play with them a little more before i can shift them into holy grail status, but oh its so so close!

Also my self imposed buying ban will soon be lifted! So is there anything new at the drug store I simply need to try for myself? I know none of these are new products, all of the new and Limited Edition stuff I picked up is a secret... and wont be seen till El gets her box!

August Favorites!

Sunday, September 6, 2015

August was another no makeup month for me. The horrible Jersey weather means its either over 100 or thunder storming for most of the month so aside from lip balm and mascara there's not much that goes on the face. Instead it was a skin and hair care month because the intense heat can be just so so drying and harmful to your skin and locks. So there is a solid theme to this favorites, with one thing i simply had to gush about once again because i'm obsessed.

{Everything will be linked if i can find them still for sale}

The Favorites-
Toni&Guy Prep Leave In Conditioner- Now it is soooo hard to find something that can work well on frizzy hair. I have wild very light curls. I mean light in that my hair is on the thinner side which means even though my hair is also insanely long it doesn't weight it down like some other people struggle with. Along with my hair being so thin it breaks very easily and little can help with my ends feeling like straw, even with a fresh haircut. My hair is very dry so there isn't a lot of oil to work through and naturally help my hair out. I used to have to style my hair with about 8 different products and still if I was straightening my hair it would frizz in a couple of hours. But since I got this in a GlossyBox I've not looked back. Holy grail status.
Soap & Glory Heel Genius Amazing Foot Cream- I think its the month of the holy grail products. My skin like my hair has this thing where its really really dry unless i'm having a break out. And the only foot cream I've found that really helps keep a pedi looking amazing is this one. It smells good and clean and with a pair of socks over night you wake up feeling so soft and really luxurious. And its under $10.
Boots Botanics All Bright Cleansing Toner- Toner for dry skin is a rough thing. My skin lacks most oils, its a struggle and all my life I've been called gator girl because the scaliness is real. But I also have break outs. They started after I had my son. For the first 20 years of my life i had this perfect skin. But by 21 I was breaking out once a month. Toners help on really bad breakouts to control my spots of oil but some can be so harsh and strip my face. This is the first kind I've found that helps clear up my oil but doesn't leave my skin looking like I've had a chemical peal. Its moisturizing and leaves my skin feeling clean but not stripped. This brand has other kinds but i like the brightening version because of my hyper pigmentation.
Aveeno Clear Complexion Daily Moisturizer- Now this has been my summer moisturizer for two years running. If you aren't as dry as me i think it will make an epic all year round moisturizer because its really creamy and soft and it does the job so well. But my skin type need extra hydration come winter. This is an amazing product that does help in keeping my complexion clear which is a big struggle for me when I take into account the dark spots I get from every breakout. Its Aveeno so its gentle on the skin, I use Aveeno baby on my kids and this is just as good for me as those are for them.
Batiste Dry Shampoo, On The Go Size- Now this particular bottle is from a gift set I got from Ulta, and i dont know if they sell this scent on its own here in the states. BUT any scent of Batiste is a life saver. Now if you have dry hair you know you cant wash it everyday, and sometimes no matter how much you brush you cant drag you natural oils down, so you are left with a slick scalp and frizzy ends. This helps to maintain the slick between washes, and smells amazing. They even have ones for colored hair, though my personal favorite is the Wild one, in the leopard bottle. But these on the go ones are just super handy in the heat.
Gotham City Sirens iPhone Case- Now im a case junkie for my phones, and when I get a new phone I have a great gifting of my old cases I no longer need. For me I always have a new one on my phone and am buying more. But this beauty has been on my phone tons, I keep coming back to it and it deserves to be seen. Yes im a comic Junkie, yes I see all the Marvel movies in theater and yes I cant wait for DC to drop the Suicide Squad next year. So I do have more then this one comic case. I smell a new post coming.... But no, this one only ran me about $10 and its sturdy enough around my phone without being hard to take off and on. And also its just so damn cute! I love it.
The Sons of Thestian (The Harmatia Cycle Book 1)- Now there is no secret to anyone who has been on my blog this month that I've had a love affair with this book. I did a whole review on it Here. But it just needs mentioning again because of the experience I had with this story. I do think its a book to read in the fall because for me magic just feels more magical in the fall. So i'm thinking sometime after Halloween I will be having a re-read of this beauty, maybe a read along with some others because its just that amazing. If your in the market for an epic fantasy, that has amazing family and friend bonds, and a lot of mystery, give The Son of Thestian a go.

And that was my month of loves! Is there anything I simply need to try, read, use now that we are in a new month and I need new obsessions to add to my old? Any older dry ladies and gents have tips on how they have managed their hair and skin in all this sun?

Whats in my bag? Summer 2015!

Monday, August 17, 2015

Hey there my loves. A couple of weeks ago i decided to change over my purse, ive had this one waiting in the wings for a while and while the tiny bags i was using were a nice change im a big bag kind of girl. And this design was just up my ally, who wouldn't want this vintage style tattoo print of their favorite Disney princess?

Now tell me this isnt the cutest bag ever?! It makes me think of this Rockabilly Pinup girl, but its also totally my style. My favorite Disney princess printed like shes an old school sailor tattoo.... amazeballs. I got this beauty from HotTopic which is great for fandom kind of merchandise. I tried to find this bag on the site and i couldn't find it. But they do have an Alice in wonderland one Here! Just like mine it does come with a shoulder strap but i don't use mine, im more of an hand/arm bag to shoulder bags. The leather is soft and its sturdy. The bag isnt heavily structured but it doesn't fall flat the second its empty either. Now take a second to appriciate the beauty that is the print, which was really my selling point on a bag that retails just shy of $70!

Now if you are thinking about this bag or any others as an option practice smart shopping. The price tag for the purse was $69.50, but i got it for around $44. Sign up for site emails, or better yet search for coupons online if you need to check out quickly. Theres always in store and site sales, all you need is a bar-code or coupon code to scan or input to get amazing deals. Ill outline some of my bargain shopping tips in another post, how to get clothes beauty and books for steals! And now for a little peak at what is inside of my bag!

Inside the Bag-
*Marvel Notebook- My Blogging notebook, for ideas, lists, keeping thoughts together because i have the memory of a goldfish and if i dont write things down they are gone from me forever.
*Kindle- Yes that beautiful black case with Jai Courtney's lovely image on it? That is my kindle Case, Its from Caseable and its my second. My original kindle 3 also had a case from there. They are great qualty and i can post a review for them if you guys would like. Also see that Noob writen on there? Yup, tagged with NoobChic, its one of my most prized possessions... books on tap always.
*iPhone- Its an iPhone 6 and that pretty Ariel case was about $5 on ebay.
*Mimco Wallet
*Powerstick Deodorant Body Spray- Because its summer and freshness is key. Also it compliments my Summer Escada perfume so well!
*Glasses Case- Its all fancy pants Michael Kors because it came with my glasses, yay for sales at Americas Best.
*Compact Mirror- Now this is my pride and joy, and i have a bigger one as well because a full review of the mirros and site is to come. But i can say now if you are in the market for a great mirror, that lights up, for you or as a gift for someone else check out VanityPrimp! Must see and from what ive seen she now carries bad ass cellphone cases as well!
*Nude Stix Lippie- In mystic and comes in that adorable tin case.
*Makeup Bag- This beauty was an ipsy bag a couple of months ago. Sephora has a bigger version, of which i have one... super cute and durable, with alot of space for the 11 lippies i seem determined to carry around.

So that is a wrap up of what i carry around with me when im on the go. What do you guys just need to lug around every time you leave the house? Anything i need to tuck into my bag next time i go out? Leave any tips, tricks or recommendations below!

July Favorites!

Monday, August 3, 2015

Hey there my dears! Today i thought we could have a little chat about the things i have been loving for this past July. Now i know not a ton of makeup will be seen today but its just been too hot to layer much on my skin without the threat of breakouts. Summer and heat waves might just be the death of me! So here is a peak of the things i have been loving. For all that i can i will link you to where you can nab your own if something catches your eye.

The Favorites-
*Elizabeth Arden Good Nights Sleep Restoring Cream - Now sadly this one has been discontinued as all things i love tend to do, BUT they do have a substatute listed on their site that might be worth the try. As someone who suffers from very very dry skin though this product leavs me feeling soft and plump in the face after putting it on before bed. And a little goes a long way.
*Soft Matte Lip Cream - Abu Dhabi
*RIMMEL LONDON Professional Eyebrow Pencil - Dark Brown (My hair is black but black brows on my lighter complextion can look to jarring so the dark brown works well as a match between hair and skin)
* The Original Panama Jack Citrus Mint Lip Gloss - This is just a slap on and feel really good on the lips daily thing. Not much color payoff but feels nice if slightly sticky, and smells sooooooo good!
*AERIN Waterlily Sun - Now this little beauty smells fresh and clean and just all around amazing. Not sweet, no heavy floral or super candy sugary smell. The full size (Biggest size is only 50mil sadly) runs a whooping $110 but if you are willing to make that kind of perfume investment its worth a smell. Its one of those scents that links but fades enough to mix wth your own oils and just... its amazing. If you want a chaper alternative ive found it is similar to Elizabeth and James Nirvana White Rollerball
*Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment Sunscreen SPF 15 - This is my overnight lip treatment, and it can give a slight tint to the lips so its perfect for running around during the day as well. I have both Honey (Pictured) and the original untinted one (Not Pictured)
*Ribbon Hair Ties
*Avengers paperclip bookmarks - These were just so super cute when i ran across them on ebay i needed to have them. Of course my baby Thor is my favorite. They have minons and mickey mouse and tons of other options, they are really cute, small and handy.

Now i know this is cheating... kinda. But the new One Direction song Drag Me Down dropped on the last day of the month. But since i listened to it maybe 40 times in that first day its totally my final July favorite. You can listen to the boys belt it Here!

These are all of my loves for July. Anything that i have been missing out on thats a must have? Im always looking for new goodies to play with! I hope everyones week is starting off on the right foot!

Little Life Update

Sunday, August 2, 2015

Hey there beauties! Long time no see. I know life got busy and i got lazy and ive been anxious lately to get back to you all! That expression above clearly says im unhappy not blogging and need to get back now! So what have i been up to?

Well the school year for my son got to be very trying, though he rocked it and passed, hey second grader. My daughter didn't know being three now meant she should move past her terrible twos so the home life has been.... interesting to say the least. My family who lived multi generational in our home split up as it were and my parents are no longer in the house so slightly less help with the kiddoes now. So theres been a lot of home life changes to adjust to.

Ive been spending a lot more time reading, something i had kinda shifted to the back burner for a while which im glad to be back in the swing of things. I love reading. And for a while Netflix took its spot... there is something so additive about being table to watch 5 seasons of a show without commercials. I am going to do a post on my Netflix obsessions soon enough so we can binge watch and fan girl together. But my next couple of posts will show the book buying thats been happening and all the reading. Ive found some GREAT books so keep an eye out for reviews.

Following along that line i have decided that i want to move forward with a dream of mine that i have always wanted to pursue. I want to write a novel! I dont know just how i want to go about this, i mean there is so many options. Posting straight to online, doing solely ebooks, seeking an agent for publication. I dont know just how i plan on going about anything but first is the writing process. I have this story i want to tell, well I have many stories i want to tell actually but this one to start with needs some fine tuning, alot of drafting to start with. I really want it to be perfect, something ill be proud to share with the world.

As for my makeup buying it has slowed but i have had time to play with so much stuff while ive had some time off so i can share all of that with you guys. Reviews galore. Also i have a swap i never shared with you guys that i simply must! My friend from Ireland Eleanor and me did a makeup swap that originated on Instagram and the gems she sent must be shared with the world.

I think maybe thats all i needed to quick catch up on? I have a couple windows open working on lots of things just now so expect lots more content very soon! Ive missed writing and im so so glad to be back. Any comments, questions or concerns drop me a line below and ill get back to you my dears. Any requests for posts or reviews drop me a line here or through email. I hope everyone is having an awesome Sunday and has a great start to the week tomorrow.

You & I ~ First impressions

Wednesday, February 18, 2015

Hey there turtle doves! So these past couple weeks ive gone into a kind of shopping frenzy, so we are gong to have alot of reviews, first impressions and how does it works coming up. But the first is probably the one im most excited about and couldnt wait to share with you.

Now for anyone who doesnt know im a child of the 90's, which means i have a firm appreciation for bands that are made up of four or five amazingly handsome guys who can also carry a tune. And just like my obsession with the Backstreet Boys (BSB 4 Life!)i have a serious thing for one direction. And like all marketing dont by celebs some of the products they have really peak to me. They have in as many years released three fragrances, and two of the three i love.

Ive wanted to pick up You & I since it was first released, and just havent gotten around to it. So when in Ulta this past week (And then later on on the Ulta website) i saw it, tried tester and was completely sold. Now i know fragrances are something entirely personal, something that works on my body with my natural scent could be horrible on someone else. Me and my mother trade scents often because after wearing them for a day we realize the chemistry is just not right with our body. Still i can say if you are a fan of sweet, not sugar sweet but just sweet pretty scents this is something you should look into

The Notes-
Top Notes- Mango, Peach Blossom, Grapefruit
Mid Notes- Peony, Osmanthus, Orchid
Dry Notes- Praline, Sandlewood, Musk

Now the notes in this perfume are to my senses perfect. The fruits balance out the florals perfectly, and the musky undertones keep it all from smelling like you rolled in a barrel of candy. The lasting power is a couple of hours on the skin which is why once i got home from the store buying the 100ml version i grabbed the roller ball for my purse, for when you are out touch ups. So far i have gotten nothing but compliments on the scent and know this will be the one that carries me into spring.

What are some of the new scents you guys are currently obsessed with, anything i need to check out pronto?

Fresh starts and whats been going on....

Saturday, February 7, 2015

Hey there turtle doves! Its been a long time i know. The end of 2014 was a little rough over here at Noob Chic headquarters. Family, friend and just life issues plopping down on top of the holidays couldn't have been worse. But all of those have been resolved and now i am buckling down, back to doing something i love just for me. As you can see the site has been given a face lift, but thats not all that is coming.....

So whats coming in this so far amazing 2015 for Noob Chic? Well i have some amazing beauty reviews all planned up. I've been thinking of a book club of sorts, and would love some input from others as i'm doing a challenge to read 30 books at least this year. (Thank you Goodreads) Theres also alot of fashion bits im anxious to share with everyone and movies, music, just life in general and all of it to share with you wonderful people.

So keep an eye out for all of the goodies to come and remember till the next time we meet have an epic day!

July Favorites!

Wednesday, July 30, 2014

Oh it is that time of the month! The time where we lament the passing of the year, claim we dont know where all the time is going and then put on a very happy smile and share what we have simply been loving this month. But no seriously, where has the time gone??

Ok now i did branch out just a bit this month, and not just included my best in beauty, but also some things i have been loving, tv, books, movies and blogs wise. And i say we just right on into the goodies!

My Makeup favorites this month have really reflected the weather. With a couple of east coast heatwaves here in the U.S. its been hard to wear makeup for fear of it melting off. Because of that i have been keeping it very light and most days very natural.

The Products-
* Maybelline Instant age rewind dark circle eraser
* Little Mix by Collection full on mascara - Perries Lengthening Black Mascara
* Hard Candy Glamoflauge heavy duty concealer - Medium
* Physicians Formula Supper CC+ - Light/Medium
* Maybelline Eyestudio Gel liner - Blackest Black
* Escada - Born In Paradise (Sample)
* Covergirl Ready Set Gorgeous Powder Foundation - 115/120 Light/Pale
* Rimmel London Moisture Renew Lipstick - Auburn Breeze
* Maybelline Colorsensational Lipstick - Born With It

Other Bits and Bobs-
I have been loving recently a Beauty Blogger that i found on instagram, Danielle of IRLBeauty. Shes a Scottish blogger who has only ever been engaging and sweet when interacting on instagram and her blog is now one of my favorites to check out when im in a reading mood. She is completely worth the read people and i will link her below. Another massive fav for me this month has been Who You Are by Jessie J. I might be completely late to fangirling over her but im obsessed/in love, and cant wait to hear more from her. Special attention should be paid to Do it like a dude as well as Whos laughing now.... my two favorite songs this month. And finally with the released of the new Fifty Shades of Grey trailer this last week i have been devouring this book for a second time (Dont judge me, its an only mildly guilty pleasure) and im not going to lie, im loving every minute of it!

TV-
For me this summer has been half falling for characters iver loved for years and half finding new characters to fan girl over. Ones i have done marathons for this month are The walking dead (Thank you AMC and your 4th of july marathon)as well as Once Upon a Time, Captain Swan anyone? The two new amazing bits added into my life have been Orphan Black, I now have a huge crush on Tatiana Maslany, but most recently Hemlock Grove which really just sucks you in and i cant wait to power through this second season the way i did the first!

What have been some things you guys have been loving this month??
