Winter Purse Essentials!

Friday, October 10, 2014

Hey there turtle doves! With the weather changing i dont know about you but i have been struggling with the cold as it also means dryness. If you are anything like me, its extra brutal because my already dry skin is now struggling in dryer air for much needed moisture.

I thought i would share some of the things i carry with me at all times for the various dryness problems that come my way. Now obviously some products work better for different skin types so when your looking for your perfect match you might need a more mild or intense option but always remember, lips skin and hair all need a little extra tenderness in the colder months.

Starting from the top so we can work our way down lets talk about hair. Now some girls are blessed with thick locks that are glossy and perfect and beautiful. I am not one of those girls. Sadly i have massive curls that are very frizzy, and my locks are thinner so the body the curls gives is an allusion to the volume i actually have. Its a bit of a struggle for me to keep any shine in my hair on a regular basis, and in the winter its even harder. The line, or range of products i have found that help give me stronger glossy hair is Organix. They have shampoos, conditioners, style products and my holy grail status stuff, the hair oils. I havent found one of their oils that havent helped return some shine to my hair. Specifically he Moroccan oils (Pictured) and the Kui Kui oil (Nots pictured) They have them in oils you can pour and apply with your fingertips or in spray bottles and over all help the shine of your hair. No matter if im heat treating my hair or letting it dry naturally they never fall short on me.

Next we have skin, which no doubt everyone needs a little extra love and attention paid to come the colder months. For my im always a dry person, so lotions and body butters are something i am very well versed in. For everyday use, i love this Queen Helene Cocoa Butter. Its not as thick as other brands but still smells sweet and is buttery soft. Because i have more breakout prone skin i reserve body butters for a more once a week deep conditioning of my skin. And if thats the kind of care your skin might need everyday The body shop body butters and Soap and Glory have the ones i fall back on, and on my pamper nights they really do make me feel silky smooth. For hands the lotion pictured above as well as some Hand Food again by soap and glory are god sends. After every hand wash its imprtant to put the moisture back into your skin so having one in your bag is super important.

And lastly what might be the most important, your lips! Now i know some people again have soft supple lips and i used to be one of them.... a moment of silence for my pouty lips please ..... Ok i kid. Well I halfway kid. See i have anxiety and one of my little ticks is that i pick. I used to bite my nails, and managed to stop after years of the bad habit. But now unfortunately i pick my lips, its not a conscious decision but it does happen. So i need something not only to combat my seasonally dry lips but the damage i do myself. There are some things that feel ok, Baby Lips and EOS are scattered around my house. But only two have ever really made my lips feel back to normal again. One is the Nivea touch of milk and honey (Not pictures thanks to my lovely daughter messing the product. The second and holy grail id have to buy again and again is the Vaseline Rosy Lips. Both i can put on before bed and i wake with the softest, and sadly pickable, lips. They really are miracle products and if you got only one thing for lip protection you should certainly invest.

What are some of the things you ladies are loving to survive this cold weather all silky smooth?

Walmart Beauty Haul!

Monday, October 6, 2014

Hey there turtle doves! So this last weekend I got a little shopping in and I thought I would share it with you. This doesnt include what I got online (Spoiler there will be another haul coming soon) But I hit Walmart for some basics for surviving and thought why dont I see if they have a nice brown lip liner.... and of course I came out with so much more then I should have.

I started actually looking for the lip liner I needed, but everything else kinda happened, and im sorry im not sorry.

Now they didnt have the color I wanted but i did snag two wet n' wild liners, both in different berry tones (Willow & Brandy Wine) which are good for the season. Directly behind that display is the Rimmel one so I then decided that I should get another Stay Matte foundation in a lighter color as the summer colors dont work for my ever fading skin just now. And possibly the thing I love most out of this trip is the Rimmel Scandaleyes Kohl Kajal liner. Ive played with it a few times already and i might be obsessed. It might actually be taking the place of my Lord & Berry liner and at $4 you cant beat the price.

My quest for the perfect 90's lip has continued and I picked up two Mauve toned nudes, Maybelline Colorsensational in Rum Riche and Flower Kiss Stick in Tea Rose. Flower is one of the brands I swear I dont hear enough about and this lipstick proves that to me. The colors are both amazing and depending on your skin tone are the perfect nudes.

Then I came across something I have been dying to dry and sadly didnt get in last months Ipsy bag. Sally Hansens new Miracel Gel polish. Which can I say again amazing? I have tried it and so far i have had it on for three days. Now im someone who washes my hands like I have OCD. I have to keep my hands under the water for a certain amount of time, use a certain amount of soap, but so far this hasnt chipped at all. With the strain on my hands with two kids it really can claim to be a miracle.

Lastly were a couple of odds and ends that i saw and grabbed. I needed a new hair oil mist and Organix is really the only brand for it. I usually get the KuiKui oil but as they didnt have it in stock i grabbed the coconut instead. I also got a new sharpener from wet n' wild and I dont know the brand of the adorable eyelash curler. For only $1 though i thought it was worth a try and my lovely mother has once again stolen my other eyelash curlers.

Is there anything i should keep look out for on my next weekly shopping trip? Anything you lovelies would like a better review on?
